I realize there are the 3d Paint Overview and Quick Tip videos on using this feature , but it would be nice to see a more in depth tutorial to actually follow along with. This is just my opinion as thats kinda how I learn, but anyway I can see using this feature a ton for Concept Art purposes.
If Anyone knows of any other resources on this I am all ears and I apologize if this topic has already been covered.
Hey Derek, I’ll keep that in mind for future content. Planning on doing some more 3D Paint related videos in the near future. Not sure there are many resources outside those 2 videos but there are a couple non KeyShot published videos on youtube covering the subject.
Yeah those videos pretty much sum it up, just gonna mess around with it. Is there or will there ever be Pressure Sensitivity for it? Or I was even thinking of some kind of masking feature on it. Or what would be really cool is have a feature similar to Spotlight Polypainting in Zbrush using photos.
Been looking for this as well, we have gotten some private training on it, and as long as you know where to drop the brush tip shapes (that little tiny icon needs to be bigger fyi) then it is just a matter of playing with it. It would be nice to see some more in-depth through to finish tutorials though, not just the ones that show you how to basically use the tool then set you off on your own. Since it is a lot of eyeballing the effect and playing with it, what are some of the more creative things to watch for? how to match the effect to the lighting, mood, etc. How to stack layers in the 3d paint tool effectively, not just that you can do it, but why and when. More master level stuff, not intro. I know how the tool works, but I do very much need guidance on how to use it effectively.
Pressure sensitivity is in the backlog of Enhancement Requests. No current ETA.
Enabling that would get me one more checkbox closer to getting a Cintiq at work
Ditto…would like to see if it can work on all materials, adding custom stuff not just what is in default textures etc
Hey Derek,
I made a 3D Paint tutorial that should cover what you’re looking for. You can find it in the community corner if you want to have a look at it.
